Mrs. Doris James (Collins)

Mrs. Doris Collins James, the first-born of twin daughters and baby number one of two children, was born on October 17, 1940, in Goodman, Attala County, Mississippi, to the late C.D. Collins and Vera Ward Collins. She was preceded in death by her parents, C.D. Collins and Vera Ward Collins; Eris Parker, her twin sister, Dora Campbell; her sister Ethel Collins, Mary Lee Roby; her daughter, Gayle Collins; her grandson, Ameen Collins; her grandson, Michael Davis; and other beloved family members who preceded her in death. Doris was educated in the public schools of Attala County, Mississippi. Throughout her life, she was a woman of deep faith whose love for God guided her every step. She worshiped and served faithfully at Greater Holy Temple, Greater Works, and later at Second Missionary Baptist Church where she remained committed to prayer, and fellowship; and in addition, she worked in the Daycare program there as what is known as the Foster Grandma Program. She was known throughout her family as a faithful prayer warrior, a source of wisdom, and a woman whose trust in God never wavered. Throughout her life, Doris worked diligently to provide for her family and instilled the values of faith, perseverance, respect, and hard work in those she loved. She possessed a generous spirit and never hesitated to help someone in need. Whether through a warm meal, a word of encouragement, or a heartfelt prayer, she made everyone feel welcomed and loved. Doris was united in marriage during her lifetime to Frank Roland, Leroy James, and James Epps; after the death of her late husband, she retained her formal last name as, James. Through these unions and throughout her life, she built a large and loving family that became her greatest joy and legacy. More than anything, Doris will be remembered for her unwavering faith and powerful prayers. To her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she was a spiritual matriarch whose prayers covered generations. She taught her family to trust God, seek His guidance, and remain steadfast through life's challenges. Her legacy of faith will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know her. Mrs. Doris Collins James departed this life on June 1, 2026. While her earthly journey has ended, her family finds comfort in knowing she is resting peacefully in the presence of her Lord and Savior. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Zebedee "Carl" Collins (Karen), Roger Collins (Diane), Wallace Collins, Robert Collins, and Victor James. She leaves a legacy through her grandchildren: Fahteema (Clark) Parrish, Rayjah Collins, Mecca (Marcus)Walker, Chimeen Collins, Medina Collins, Tosha Wells, Carl Jackson, Kendale Childress, Cameron Collins, Rahsheeba Pierson, Rahshaan Pierson, Rikaah Pierson, Marie Davis, Michelle Davis, Mark Davis, Roger "Stoney" Collins, and Victor James Jr. She also leaves her cherished great-grandchildren: Faheem Collins, Michael Parrish, Eli Parrish, Brandan Collins, Brea Collins, Meeco Walker, Marcus Walker, Mox Walker, Ameen Collins, Nola Collins, Dinero Collins, MaDisha Wells, and MaGuyBy Collins, Ahna, Ava, Jayshon, Jayden, Dezzy, Nyah, Wallace I,II,&II, Carma, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family, and dear friends. She is also survived by her beloved sisters: Helentine Rockette, Emma Jean Yates, Lynn Williams, Lillie Eve Harmon, Hattie Mae Wilson, Nancy Nettles, and Michael Collins. Mrs. Doris Collins James leaves behind a remarkable legacy of faith, love, prayer, resilience, and family. Her life was a testimony that God's grace is sufficient, and her prayers will continue to echo through the generations she leaves behind.
