Mr. Dennis Ray Young

Dennis Ray Young was born on February 12, 1956 to the union of Horace E. Young and Mae V. (Amos) Young in Kansas City, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Clayton R. Young, Sr., two sisters, Tanya R. Young and Rolanda A. Harris, one nephew, Stuart Young, one niece, Carla Ford, great nephew, Marlon Young, Jr., great niece, La'Cresia Lambert, six uncles and four aunts. Dennis received his formal education in the Kansas City Missouri Public Schools and was a graduate of Southeast High School class of 1975. Upon leaving school, Dennis joined the military serving in the United State Army receiving an honorable discharge. Dennis has has various job, which he was very good at. He has always given 100 percent in everything he did. He would later go on to receive two certificates from Dickinson Business School for Electronics and Auto Body. He had many hobbies, fishing, playing cards, and dominos. He had a special love for music and was a talented DJ in his own right. For twenty three years he brought family and friends together with his Annual Father's DayPicnic which was renamed "The Baby Daddy Picnic" this was a joyous time where everyone played games, listened to good music and most of all enjoying the best barbeque (cooked by him). Dennis received Christ as an adult and united with the Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James A. Terrance, Jr, where he was a member of many for many years singing in the Men's Choir. He was a very gifted individual with his hands, he could remodel an entire home by himself. He said, Jesus taught him everything he knew. He departed this life on Friday, February 9, 2024.. He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Thaisheena Nicholson and Alexzandrea Young, Kansas City, MO; one brother, Bruce E. Young, Independence, MO; two sisters, Sheryl Young, Kansas City, MO and Charity Burnside, North Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren, Keith Fletcher, Keion Fletcher, Jasia Nicholson, Denise Young, Ramone Young, Jackson Young and Summer Young; one great grandchild, Keion Fletcher, Jr., all of Kansas City, MO; one aunt, Doris Amos, Las Vegas, NV a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024,11:00am at Friendship Baptist Church. Interment Highland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00am-11:00am at the church. Services conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons. Condolences may be shared on our website.
