Mr. Dennis A. Ashford

Dennis (Dino) Ashford was born March 12, 1959 to the union of PV and Gladys (Byers) Ashford in Kansas City, MO. He was preceded in death by both parents, one sister, Jacklyn Ashford, brothers, Phillip Ashford, Dwayne Ashford and Frederick Ashford. Dennis was educated in the Kansas City, Mo School district, he attended Yeager Elementary, Lincoln Junior and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1977. He was employed by Kansas City School District as an Environmental Engineer also worked as a Security Officer at several locations throughout the city. His final years of employment were spent working a Benton Market. Dino also worked with youth and the Boys and Girls Club of Kansas City. Dino enjoyed singing, playing football and was an avid Chiefs fan. He loved to grill and was one of the organizers of the neighborhood “Back to the Hood” celebration each year. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor J. E. Lloyd He departed this earthly realm on September 18, 2024, in the home. He leaves to cherish his loving memory one daughter, Diona Michelle Rowe, three granddaughters Cierra, La’Dora, Ladaesia, one grandson, John and eight great grandchildren; three sisters, Pamela Ashford, LaTonya Ashford and Jennifer Ross all of Kansas City, MO; one brother, Billy Ray (Marsha) Ellis of San Antonio, TX, one sister-in-law, Viana Ashford of Kansas City, MO, three aunts, Margaree Nunley of Cleveland, AR, Elizabeth Miller of Raytown, MO, Flora Davis-Swell of Kansas City, MO, seven nieces, his favorite Lauren (Ola) Brown of Dallas, TX, Katherine(Missy)Thompson, NeKandra (NayNay) Coulter of Dallas, TX, Gina (Dr. William) Lawrence of North Carolina, Taylor Ashford of Houston, TX, Tyshena (Oscar) Wesley, and Tannikia (Timothy) Williams., sibling cousins Wilber(Lynn) Moore, JoAnn Foster, Verna (Ronald) Foster, Tanya(Glen) Duncan, Nanette (Van) Garlington and Karen (Wayne) Stricklen. god children Kiana (Donzell) Moore, Aa'Laiza and A'aryn, Sasha Kind, Stephaun Jackson, Bailey and Zoey KO Carter, Shakia Boyd, Chelle Smith, and Chris Peppar, special friends, Mario and Cynthia, Stan Phillips, Deanna Austin, Tom Sims, John Williams, Rick Rainey, Carl McFarland, Nick Fazzino, Raymond Suber, All the neighbors on the block and a host of other relatives, loved ones and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Second Missionary Baptist Church of Grandview 5111 Harry S. Truman Drive Grandview, MO 64030.
