Mr. David Jerome Armstrong

Our darling David Jerome Armstrong was born in Washington, DC on April 2, 1982, to Jerome and Carolyn Armstrong. David and his parents returned to his Father’s hometown of Detroit, Michigan, eventually settling in Southfield, Michigan, where he spent the duration of his childhood. David graduated from Southfield High School in 2000. In January of 2003, David enlisted in the United States Army. He was assigned to the USA Regional Medical Center in Kaiserslautern, Germany. David also enrolled in the food service specialist course. During his time serving his country, David received the Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon. David was honorably discharged from the United States Army on June 9, 2005. “Choch” (as he was affectionately called by his loving Mom), was a ray of light to all who knew and loved him, a natural comedian with a passion for the culinary arts and poetry. He was apt to call his adoring Big Sisters, Lela and Arleigh (twins with whom he also shared a birthday), reciting his rhymes, speaking about his desire to author books on their lives, and strategizing on his future plans. But nothing at all compared to his deep love and pride for his only child, a precious son, Jenson. David cherished his son, making challenging but brave decisions to ensure Jenson’s safe, abundant, and bright future. On Monday, June 9, 2025, David transitioned to eternity in his home in Topeka, Kansas. He was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. David was preceded in death by his older brother, Jerome Hopkins. He is survived by his parents Jerome & Carolyn Armstrong, son Jenson David Armstrong (who is lovingly and dutifully cared for by his maternal grandparents Dave & Cathy Altman), sisters Lela Caroline Rowe and Arleigh Danielle Rowe-Hardy and her husband Derrick Hardy, nieces Sienna Danyele Jones and Madison Nichol Cleveland, nephew Lexington Wes Hardy, great niece Rumi Sanaa Jones, cousin but brother in heart Larnell Gregory Jones, and honorable God Parents Joy Donnell and Craig Donnell Sr. with whom he spent significant time in his youth. Additionally, he leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles and cousins who held a special place in his heart. Although David’s physical presence is no longer with us and our hearts are broken, his beautiful smile, warm hugs, infectious laughter, creative spirit and genuine love will live on forever in our hearts and cherished memories, as his soul is now resting in God’s everlasting love and embrace. A memorial service to celebrate the life of David Jerome Armstrong will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, 11am. The service will take place at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel, with visitation between 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Internment will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas at 1:30 p.m.
