Obituary Sister Cynthia L. Lewis departed this earth on February 10, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was born August 2, 1953 in Kansas City, KS to George Lewis Jr. and Leola Cole. She was 12 of 12 children to their union (The Youngest). Her parents proceeded her death. She was born and raised in Kansas City, KS. She attended Northwest Junior High School and graduated from Wyandotte High School, class of “71”. She never hesitated to remind family and friends she was a “Mighty, Mighty, Bulldog”. She accepted Christ at an early at her family church First Baptist Church of Quindaro, where she remained a member until God called her home. After High School, Cynthia married her high school sweetheart Donald Lee. To this union two children were born: one boy and one girl. She attended Donnelley College and received her associate degree in 1984. She worked, went to school, and raised two children as a single mother. She set a work ethic that not many could uphold. She worked for the banking industry for over 20 years while holding part-time jobs at Macy’s and Gorman’s. She would reminisce about each merger “Anchor Savings, Boatmen’s, Bank IV, to Bank of America.” After working in such a demanding industry she wanted to spend more time with her family and leisure activities. She finished her career working for the Walmart Corporation. Where she was employed until 2020. She loved working with the public and getting a discount . Cynthia was dedicated to her faith and serving the Lord. She ministered in the following roles: member in various choirs, member of Dorcas circle, member of the scholarship committee for over 20 years, Director for Youth City Mission from 2011-2017, Director for Kaw Valley District Youth Convention Rose Pageant (One of her favorites), Co-Adult Director for Kaw Valley District Youth Convention Rose Pageant Valley District and Youth Convention Registration. Secretary in the Kansas State Youth Convention for 5 years for the Missionary Baptist State Convention of Kansas. Cynthia was also very active in many fraternal organizations in the Kansas City area. She served as Past Matron in her Chapter, Star of Bethlehem No. 59, Order of the Eastern Star. As well as being a member of Pride the East #20 Heroines of Jericho. When she wasn’t at a church function or an Eastern Star event, she was with her grandchildren. She took everyone of her grandchildren to First Baptist, even with a 12 year gap between the oldest and the youngest. She was committed to teaching young people. She gave herself to prepare the next generation for Christ. Some of her favorite pastimes included camping, cooking, movies, sewing, shopping, fundraising and gardening. She loved gardening so much she even planted flowers in her Daughter’s yard. Her fun demeanor, vivacious smile and gorgeous dimples will be missed. She will be missed. She leaves to cherish her memory, children: Antonio Lewis-Lee (Lisa), Twynesha “Nicole” Reed (Jerry) of Kansas City. Four Grandchildren: Juhon Lewis-Lee (Phoenix AZ), Elisshia “Diane” Lewis-Lee, Antonio Lewis Lee Jr., of Kansas City MO. Antonio Rodriquez, and Jeremiah Reed of Kansas City. Three great grandchildren: DeMarion, Aallyah and Alana. Three sisters: Sylvia Singleton, Saundra Marshall, Eunice Williams all of Kansas City, KS. Four brothers Yusef Muhammad (formerly George Lewis III) of Chicago IL, Sylvester Lewis, Kenneth Lewis and Marvin Lewis all of Kansas City, KS. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, church members and friends . Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at First Baptist of Quindaro.
