Mrs. Creola Harris

Obituary Creola Marie (Johnston) Harris, was born December 15, 1947, to Samuel Johnston and the beloved Johnnie Mae Jiner., in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the younger of two girls. She is preceded in death by her parents. Creola was educated in the Kansas City Missouri public school system. A lifelong student, she earned her general education degree and went on to earn her Associates Degree in Nursing. Creola was a natural born nurturer, caregiver, and nurse. Creola was a devoted mother to six children and one stepchild, listed from eldest to youngest, Isaac, Robert, Sheridan (Tammy), Sylvester (Michelle), Shalonda, Iyana (Daryl) and Aireoshia. She was the matriarch of the family and was like a mother to many nieces, nephews and countless other nephews and grandchildren. On August 23, 1991, Creola married the love of her life, William Thomas Harris. They lived, traveled, and loved until his passing on October 27, 2007. Creola was caring and loving and befriended every person she encountered. She was the epitome of compassion, forgiveness, and loving kindness. Her strength was unmatched, and she left a lasting impression on all who encountered her. She loved striking up conversations with strangers who soon became friends. She also loved visiting family members and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as much as possible. If she could not connect in person, she made an effort to reach out by phone, text message or FaceTime. Creola loved listening to music, dancing, painting, reading, and was an excellent cook. Creola was a member of The Word Ministry, led by Pastor James Cravens, and loved hearing the word and being a part of such a close-knit church family. Creola leaves to cherish her memories, one sister, Patricia Johnston, her six beloved children, a stepchild, eleven grandchildren, Robert, Niaisha, Benjamin, Tiffany, Christina, Denzel, Dwayne, Bobby, Diamond, Michael, Mion and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-grandchildren. The family offers their sincere gratitude to each of you who remembered them during their time of bereavement. May God bless and keep you. Funeral Service will be held next Saturday, October 30, 2021,11:00am at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery, LVNKS.
