Clara Garner

Obituary Clara Bell Garner was born on November 24, 1946 in Arcadia, Louisiana to her parents, Rev. James and Bessie Lewis. Clara and Lee Roy Crawley (Sr) married in 1962. The family relocated to Kansas City, Missouri in 1969 as Clara and Lee Roy sought opportunities for advancement and employment. Clara dedicated her life to service as she began her career at Menorah Hospital, on Linwood boulevard and Prospect in 1971. There she worked diligently as a nutrition assistant for 5 years. She eventually moved to Research Medical Center where she led as a Dietary Supervisor for 15 years. In later years she served as a professional caregiver for Comfort Keepers Home Care. Her spare time was spent enjoying her hobbies of sewing, cooking and gardening. Clara loved the Lord and accepted Christ as her Savior at a very young age. She became a member of the Linwood Boulevard Seventh-day Adventist Church and served as one of the Church Board Member for five years. She later joined New Missionary Seventh Day Adventist Church where she was Sabbath School Superintendent, finally attending Beacon Light Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was a devoted servant of God and was loved by her church family. Clara Bell Garner died peacefully at Research Medical Center on Monday, July 13th in Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 73. She is preceded in death by husband, Joe Garner, her parents, Rev. James and Bessie Lewis, sisters, Mary Roscoe, Essolene Floyd, Verna Mae Lewis, Deborah Gray, brother, John Lewis and her youngest daughter, Rita Yvonne Crawley (9 months old). She is survived by her daughter Janet Lockridge (Crawley) Kansas City, KS, son, Lee Roy Crawley Jr. Seattle, Wa., grandchildren, Brent Coker (27), Elisea Crawley (22) Seattle, Wa., Emmett Lockridge III Kansas City, KS, (21), Isaiah Crawley, (20) and Miles Lockridge (18) Kansas City, KS. Sister Marva Phillips (Monroe, LA), Brother James Lewis Kansas City, Mo., Brother Charles Lewis. Host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Clara’s homegoing celebration is scheduled for Thursday, July 30th at Lawrence Jones Funeral Chapel, a mask face covering will be required for the entire service. Pastor Dion Henry will officiate the celebration. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Clara’s life.
