Mr. Charles Jones, Sr.

Obituary Charles Andrew Jones Sr. was born March 6, 1941 in Paris, Arkansas to the late Minnie Lee Matthews and Rueben Jones. He was baptized at an early age in an Arkansas River. He moved with the family to Kansas City, Mo. where he was educated at Booker T Washington Grade School, R. T. Cole Grade School and Central High School. After school he joined the Marines. Charles was a Member of St. Stephens Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. John W. Williams. Charles met and married Sandra Bullock, and from this union, they were the proud parents of 7 children. Charles worked for Hammer Bros. Manufacturing Company, Simmons Mattress Company, and he was self-employed in the Home Improvement Industry. Charles was a dog enthusiast. He always had many different breeds of dogs over the course of his life. From his childhood to his adult life, Charles was known for his whit and mannish ways. Charles would have a different name for everybody he met. He enjoyed sitting on his porch and people watching. He knew everything that went on in his neighborhood. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Minnie Lee Patterson and Reuben Jones; his stepfather James E. Patterson Sr.; One brother Jimmie L. Jones; two sons Ernest Lee Jones and Charles Andrew Jones Jr.; one daughter Sandra Rene Jones; three Grandsons Jason Houcks, Kevin Jones, and Wilbur Johnson. In his passing he leaves to cherish his memory three sons; Melvin Elliott Jones (Joyce), Christopher Joseph Jones, and John Patrick Jones; one daughter Traci Bronson; 20 grandchildren and 57 great grandchildren. He also had three bonus sons; Chris Hatch (Christine), Lamont Hatch, and Damien Hatch; two bonus-grandchildren Christopher and Makay; three brothers, Patrick Lee Patterson (Josephine), James Evans Patterson Jr., and Michael Wayne Patterson (Demetrice); one sister; Paula Diane Patterson (Oree McRae); and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be next Thursday, April 22, 2021, 12:00 noon at Lawrence A. Jones & Sins Funeral Chapel. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00am-12:00pm at the chapel.
