Ms. Brandi "Dana B" Graves

Brandi Renay Graves, age 33, of Kansas City, Missouri, was born on September 6, 1992, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Vickie Renee Graves and Leroy Graves Jr. She peacefully transitioned on March 31, 2026, in her hometown, surrounded by the love and memories of those who cherished her deeply. Brandi was truly a sweet angel—kind, caring, funny, and unapologetically real. She had a spirit that could light up any room and a presence that made people feel seen, loved, and comfortable. She loved life, and she loved her family even more. A loving daughter and devoted sister to Teaira Graves, Brandi was deeply family-oriented and truly the glue that held her family together. She found joy in simply being around her loved ones and created memories that will forever be cherished. Her bond with her only nephew, Tahj, was especially close—she loved him as her own and poured into him with care, love, and protection. Brandi was a woman of determination, motivation, and vision. She was a natural entrepreneur who worked hard, stayed focused, and saved her money to accomplish her goals. She had big dreams—and she made sure she chased them. She graduated from Renaissance Academy Charter High School in Independence, Missouri, where she was known for being a bright student who earned straight A’s. Brandi was employed for the last 5yrs at Honey Well FMT as a laborer. Brandi was also widely known as Dana Bands (Dana B.), a gifted and successful rap artist. Through her music, she told her story, expressed herself, and made sure her voice was heard. She performed in different cities and states, building a name for herself not only in Kansas City but far beyond. Many knew her as the best female rapper in Kansas City. She inspired countless young women to follow their dreams and use their voice. She found joy in writing music and creating alongside her “brother from another mother,” Bird. Brandi had a special way of making people feel loved, no matter what they were going through. She was the light in every room. Even through life’s challenges, she remained strong, kept a positive outlook, and continued to push forward. Brandi fought hard—and she won. She will forever be our angel, in heaven and in our hearts. Brandi accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior and had started bible study with her father weekly. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Vickie Renee Graves; her father, Leroy Graves Jr.; her sister, Teaira Graves; her nephew, Tahj, and a large, loving extended family including her aunts and uncles: Bridget “Twinkle” Summers, Nicole Newman, Fred Newman Jr., Debra Jones, Willard Williams, Robert Graves, Tina Wells, Camille Wells, Rachelle Morrow, Timothy Wells Jr., Michael Wells, Vincent Wells, and James Graves, along with many cousins, loved ones, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Bonnie Jean and Fred Sylvester Newman; her paternal grandparents, Gertrude Wells and Leroy Graves; and her uncles, James Maceo Newman Sr., Larry Graves, and her cousin, that she loved like a sister, Cynthia Wells. Funeral Services will be held on Friday April 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Watkins Heritage Chapel 4000 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. KCMO 64130. Interment: Forest Hill Cemetery.
