Ms. Birdie Faye Findley

Birdie Faye Findley was born on April 22, 1947 in Kansas City, Kansas to the late Nevada Byers-Isom and Amos Walker. Birdie grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and attended Central High School. She ac- cepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Metropolitan AME Zion church, alongside her mother, Nevada Byers-Isom, until her passing. In 1965, Birdie gave birth to her 1st born child, daughter, Sistonia Clark, February 29, 1968, she mar- ried the love of her life, John L. Findley II, and to this union, two sons were born, John III and Antwine. They remained happily married until his death, March 23, 2001. Birdie started her career as a paralegal assistant before joining the Kansas City, Mis- souri School District as a teacher’s assistant. Birdie’s first assignment was at R.J. DeLano where her youngest son, Antwine, attended. DeLano was an academic and therapeutic school for local children with mental and/or physical disabilities. In 2011, R.J. DeLano closed and Birdie continued her career in the school district as a bus mon- itor for Durham, First Student, and Student of America transportation services. Birdie was a dedicated, dependable employee. She was loved by her co-workers for her fun loving attitude, her beautiful smile, and her charismatic personality. Birdie never met a stranger and never lost an argument (most of us can attest to that). Birdie was full of love and joy which shared with family and friends. She loved to hang out with her special cousins, Joycestine, Ann, Helen, MaryAnn, and Brenda. When they were together, you had better watch out! Birdie was a lover of music. She loved to dance, sing to her favorite records, joke, laugh, flirt, and travel. Birdie was a loving daughter, niece, sister, mother, wife, aunt, cousin, and friend. Birdie was a fun-loving woman, and she lived life to the fullest. She left us with so many wonderful stories and great memories we will cherish in our hearts forever. Birdie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Findley II; sons, John Find- ley III and Antwine Findley; brothers, Claudis Byers Sr. and Earnest Clark Jr. (Mary); sister, Virginia Taylor (William); nephews, Earnest J. Clark, Shawn Crockett, Terrence Byers, Reginald Byers Sr., Reginald Byers Jr., and Rahjee Byers; nieces, Yolanda Byers and Jeanette Gilbert; aunt, Cumine Wallace; and uncles, Roman Byers (Gertrude), and Lewis Byers (Fannie). Birdie leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Sistonia Meekie; grandchildren, Shante Young (Byrant), Lauren Frazier, Annesha Meekie, Jay Meekie, Thea Frazier, Derek Meekie, Jazmine Findley, and Montrey Clark; great-grandchildren, De’Veonte, Isaiah, Marcelle, Donte, Isabella, Jay Jr., Kimberly, Amon, Da’Miyah, Giovanni, Kaylahni, and 1 baby girl on the way; nieces, Zifferine (Otis), Yvette, Yolanda (John), Wendy (Gary), Julie, and Bridgette; nephews, Claudis Jr., Clarence, William Jr., Edd, Robin, and Steven; 25 great nieces and nephews; 47 great-great nieces and nephews; the Findley, Morris, Taylor families; and a host of other relatives and friends She departed this life on February 18, 2024, at St. Joseph Medical Center.. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, 11:00am at Metropolitan AME Zion Church. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00am-11:00am at the church. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shred on our website.
