Betty Lee Raine

Obituary Betty Lee Raine, 76, departed her earthly home in Kansas City, Missouri and transitioned to her heavenly home on January 16, 2021. She was born November 10, 1944 in Stateline, Mississippi to Odell and Izola Davis. Betty was the sixth of fifteen children. She was preceded in death by her parents Odell and Izola Davis, brothers Odell Davis, Jr. and Willie Davis; sisters Idella Fisher, Verda Bristol, Voncile McCann and Maven Evon Davis; and daughter Sheila Lister. Betty was raised and educated in Stateline, Mississippi. She married her high school sweetheart Willie B. Raine. They later relocated to Kansas City, Missouri. From that union four children were born. Betty was a quiet woman with a big heart. She accepted Christ at a young age and was devoted to the Lord and her family. She enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners and family fun time which included travelling, games and lots of laughter. She was a woman of God with a kind and sweet spirit who gave freely to all she encountered. Betty was a member of Sunrise Christian Assembly for over 24 years, under the late Alease Sutton, Pastor. She served in many ministries including Deaconess, Women’s Choir, Mission and Usher boards. In 2005, she became a faithful member of Canaan Worship Center under Bishop Tony and First Lady Mary Ann Cobbins. Betty worked many years in the hotel industry where she was promoted into management. She completed vocational and training classes in the administrative field. She later was employed at the Housing Authority of Kansas City as a Secretarial Executive Assistant until she retired in 2013. She leaves to cherish her memory; her daughters Marquida Raine (Grandview, MO) and Pearl Carter (Canton, GA), son Damon Raine (Kansas City, MO), son-in-law, Stan Lister (Raytown, Mo), granddaughter Brittany Hughes, great granddaughter Skylar Ann Walker (Lee’s Summit, Mo); brothers Nathaniel (Ella) Davis, Johnnie (Rose) Davis, Joe (Ann) Davis and Sammy Davis; sisters, Mary Wiley, Margaret Davis, Janice Shaffer (Kansas City, MO) and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 30th at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Linwood Chapel 1800 E. Linwood Blvd KCMO 64109. Visitation 9 am - 11 am. Interment Mount Moriah Cemetery.
