Mrs. Betty Lenoir

Obituary On February 26, 2021, Betty Jean Lenoir received perfect heavenly peace, “to be absent from the body and present with the Lord.” II Corinthians 5:8 She was born January 12, 1936 in Shreveport, LA to Curtis and Gracie Morrison. She graduated from Ringgold Colored High School and Gibsland Community College. In 1952, she moved to Kansas City, KS with her parents. Betty Jean began her working career at Morrison Skelly with her dad. In 1959, she married Walter Lenoir, Sr. Betty joins Walter Lenoir, Sr., her husband; Curtis and Gracie Morrison, her parents and Keaton Lenoir II, her grandson in eternal rest. As a child, she accepted Christ and joined New Hope Baptist Church in Louisiana. When her family moved to Kansas City in 1952, she became a member of Second Baptist Church under the late Reverend Roy A. Reed and current Pastor Ron Taylor. She was a faithful servant in the Mission ministry and loved attending Sunday School. Around 2012 she began attending Trinity A.M.E. where she moved her membership under the leadership of Elder Fran Carey and current Pastor Steven Cousins. A few of her favorite scriptures were John 3:16, Pslams 23, Pslams 121:1-2, Phillippians 4:13, 1 Corinthians 13:11, and Galatians 6:7. One of her favorite hymns was Amazing Grace. A few of her favorite songs she liked to listen to were Just a Little Talk with Jesus, My Soul Has Been Anchored, and I’ll Fly Away. Her love and passion for children led her to begin her career in early childhood development. To countless children, she was known as Ms. Betty, Grandma Betty or Aunt Betty. She was more than a daycare provider. Every child she kept was loved and cared for as though they were her own. All of the children loved her and never wanted to go home. Betty was a loving and supportive mother and grandmother. She gave from her heart all she had to anyone and everyone she could. Giving and serving others is what made her happy. She enjoyed chatting on the telephone with family and friends. Betty loved to eat teacakes and play dominos with her domino buddy. She leaves to mourn: Janice (Keith) Thomas, Kansas City, KS; Walter (Lisa) Lenoir, Kansas City, KS; Kimmie Stallings, Kansas City, KS; Keaton (Tamara) Lenoir, Kansas City, MO and Shirley (Michael) Wright, Lee’s Summit, MO; her grandsons, Keith and Josiah; her granddaughters: Kenya, Clemetia, DaKniesha, Alicia, MaRya, Tyeisha and Leah; several great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Private funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021, 11:00am at Trinity AME Church. Private Disposition. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00am at the church.
