Ms. Barbara S. Conway

Barbara Sue (84) was born January 24, 1940, at General hospital in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Lawrence and Sarah Louise Jones -Weaver. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lawrence Weaver Jr and Frank Weaver Sr; sisters Mary Thomas and Frances Porter; son Donald Conway Sr; a great-great granddaughter, Abigail Surrat and adopted mother Juanita Broughton. She received Christ at an early age as a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church where she would serve until her last days. Barbara was educated in the Kansas City School district, graduating from Lincoln High School class of 1958. After high school, she started her working career at Meyer Green restaurant. From there she would continue her love of cooking at Menorah hospital, until being presented with a position at Booker T Washington. It was in her role as Librarian that she discovered the love and importance of education. Barbara continued in this role until accepting a position with Goodwill Industries. Believing that everyone deserves to be happy, she would encourage coworkers, discuss her love of family, and assist them with their daily activities after beloved receptionist. She would continue in this humanitarian type role for thirty seven years until her retirement in 2013. Barbara was married to Ronald Conway in 1962. She raised five children: Ira, Demetreia, Ronette, Donald, and Leona. Barbara had many hobbies such as sewing, cooking, working crossword puzzles, and family time, but the one thing she found the most joy in was serving the Lord. She was a faithful and active member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist church and there wasn't one thing she didn't have her hands in. During her later years she found that the choir and being the praise dance senior mother is what made her heart smile. Barbara departed this life peacefully on September 21, 2024, at Research Medical Center surrounded by family and friends. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory her son Ira Conway Sr (Brenda), daughters, Demetreia Conway (Byron), Ronette Conway and Leona Gray (David) all of Kansas City, Missouri. one brother, Robert Weaver (Alice) of Kansas City, Missouri, one sister Margaret McElroy (William) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She also leaves an adopted son, Gerren Moore and a special friend Shirley Cohen and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle's other relatives and Friends. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 12:00 P.M. (noon) at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church 2711 E. 27th Street KCMO 64127. Interment: Forest Hill Cemetery.
