Annie B Oliver

Obituary Annie B Oliver was born February 26,1939 in Hollandale, Mississippi to the late Calvin and Addie Lee Mims; she was the fourth of eight children. Annie B gained her wings on September 4, 2020 peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. In her quest to provide the best opportunities for her growing family; she relocated to Kansas City, MO in the late 1960’s. While in Kansas City initially, Annie B lived a meager life but with hard work, sacrifice, and determination she was able to provide a nurturing and loving home for her family. Annie B completed her certification in nursing and worked at Oak Ridge Manor nursing home, Clara Manor nursing home and a few other facilities throughout the greater Kansas City area. She took great pride in caring for elderly and disabled patients; showing unsurpassed compassion and empathy to those in her care. Annie B also volunteered countless hours at the schools (Garrison Elementary Karnes Elementary) attended by her children. She always stressed the importance of education and financial freedom. At an early age Annie B accepted the Lord as her savior and remained a faithful servant until her last breath. She served on the Usher Board and Adult Choir. Annie B enjoyed listening to gospel music; reading/listening to the bible. Her faith was paramount and the beacon that guided all her decisions. She was unafraid to display her relationship with Christ and shared His love with and to all that were in her presence. Annie B was well known for providing financial, legal, and family counseling; whether or not information was solicited. She was a loyal, loving, caring, principled mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, aunts, uncles, brothers (Calvin “Jim Bo” Mims Jr and Elijah “Billie Jack” Young), sister (Rosie Mae Morris) and great granddaughter La’Dajah Oliver. She leaves to cherish her memory and legacy her six children: Sam (Georgia), Barbara, Johnny, Mark (Twanna), Cozzetta (Lucky) of Kansas City; and Dorothy Ann of Arizona. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. Also, four surviving sisters: Easter Mae Williams, Addie Lee Young, Julia Anderson of Chicago; Flora Mae Hobbis of St Louis, and aunt Cloree Leunig of Peoria Arizona. As well as cherished friends Rachel Ferguson, Louise Thompson and god-daughter Janie McGowan. Memorial Services will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, September 18th at Lawrence A.
