Mr. Andrew Holmes

Andrew Darnell Holmes, 44, passed away on March 28, 2026 at Washington Hospital in Newark, California. He was born on July 11, 1981 in Kansas City, Missouri to Andrew Bullock and Meldon Holmes. Andrew grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Martin Luther King Jr., Central High School, Operation Fresh Start High School where he graduated in Madison, Wisconsin in 2002. After high school, he attended Metropolitan Community College where he received a certificate in Computer Training, FEC – Basic Computer Literacy Course. Personal Trainer, Junior Achievement Project Business – Certificate. Andrew began working for U.S. Postal Service as a mail handler for one year. He was employed by Yanfeng and by Tesla for four and half years. He was a hard worker always striving to do better, be better. Encouraging others to be better and do better. He had a good sense of business. If you call on him, he would be there when he could as soon as he could. Drew was a very special little boy he was a people person. We would be walking down the hallway in our apartment building and older people; grown men and women would cheerfully greet him. I said Drew how do you know all these older people? He’d say awe that’s my buddy, that’s my friend. People were drawn to him. They would tell me he was born for good luck. He had the biggest heart. He wanted to help people. He wanted to feed the hungry and help the homeless. Andrew grew stronger in faith. Andrew was a family man. He loved his family. If you knew him, then you know what a good son, brother, cousin, uncle, stepfather, grandson, nephew, friend, co-worker, employee he was. He had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed art, sports, music, movies and gospel. Andrew was preceded in death by his great grandparents all from Arkansas, Andrew Thrower, Gussie Rideout Thrower, John Wesley Bullock – Inell Scroggins Bullock, grandparents from Arkansas and Kansas City, Missouri John R. Bullock – Ruby Rideout Thrower Bullock, Aunt, Nadine Bullock White of Kansas City, Missouri and brother Anton Martin of Kansas City, Missouri. His Great grandparents Jessie James Holmes 1st and Lucille Holmes, Charlie Burrage and Estella Burrage, Taylor of Mississippi. Grandfather Jessie James Holmes 2nd, uncles Jessie James Holmes 3rd Mississippi. Charles O Holmes, Jessica Holmes, Kansas City, Missouri. Andrew leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Meldon Holmes (Mary) of Kansas City, Missouri; father, Andrew Bullock of Kansas City, Missouri; grandmother, Florence Borrage Holmes Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri; siblings, Mellisa, Monica, Anthony Homes of Kansas City and Independence, Missouri, Timothy Watts, Kevin Chow of Kansas City, Missouri, Rita of Kansas City, Missouri; a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday July 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Watkins Heritage Chapel 4000 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. KCMO 64130. Interment: Forest Hill.
