Obituary Life’s Reflections of Allayise Teresa (Louise) Shelton-Henson Allayise Teresa (Louise) Shelton-Henson, 95, peacefully departed this earthly life in the home on Monday, January 24th, 2022. Allayise was born in Kansas City, Kansas on September 13, 1926 to the union of Ezell Pollard and Ruth (Tiger) Pollard. Teresa was the only child from that union but was the second of three children from her Father, Ezell Pollard. Teresa was raised by her grandparents Robert and Ida (Richardson) Pollard after losing her mother Ruth at an early age. She was preceded in death by both parents, Paternal and Maternal grandparents, two sisters: Arilissa Lane and Arzelia Ousley, a daughter: Patricia Martin, three sons: Ronald Shelton Sr., Richard Shelton and Terry Shelton. Two grandsons: Ronald Shelton Jr. and Barron Shelton, two great grandchildren: Edward Ewing II and Montenae Hicks. Teresa was educated in the Kansas City, Kansas School District and attended Douglas Elementary , Northeast Junior High and graduated from Sumner High School. In March of 1943 Teresa married Eugene Shelton. To this union 7 children were born. She later remarried in 1972 to William R. Henson. Teresa accepted Christ at a young age and attended church all her adult life. She started her Christian walk and service in Kansas. After moving to Missouri she attended several churches and eventually united with Palestine Missionary Baptist Church Of Jesus Christ where she attended and was an usher until her health failed her. Teresa worked various jobs but found time to get her Cosmetology license and worked as a Cosmetologist for several years. She was employed at the General Service Administration (GSA) where she retired from in 1993 after being a faithful worker for more than 28+ years. After retirement Teresa enjoyed her many grandchildren and shopping Allayise Teresa Henson departed this earth on January 24, 2022. Leaving to cherish her memory, Daughters: Genevieve Jackson, Vickie Shelton, Mary Cook, Bonita Jones (Wendell) and Shirley Shelton (Richard); Son: Derrick Shelton (Donya); Grandchildren: Dianna Shelton, Bridgett Davis , Wanda Trull , Manu Shelton, Joseph Shelton, Shenon Shelton, Tyler Shelton, Angela Addison, Kenneth Martin, Maurice Martin, Latonya Adams, Shonta Turner, Larry Shelton, Terron Shelton, Jane’e Williams, Teresa Shelton, Samuel Washington and Darius Shelton. Forty-seven great grandchildren, thirty-two great-great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. After our mother became ill and we would ask her what day of the week it was, she would always smile and say “Sunday”. Mama now everyday is your “SUNDAY” ENJOY! Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022, 11:00am at Corinthian Baptist Church. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10am-11am at the church.
