Ms. Alice Sanders

Obituary Alice Lee Buchanan Sanders, 79 was born July 23, 1942 to Leroy Buchanan and Edna Johnson Buchanan in Kansas City, Missouri. My sister Alice had many happy times growing up on 15th & Lydia in Kansas City, MO. She attended W.W. Yates Elementary School. Days were filled with going to the movies, roller skating, swimming at Parade Park and playing with the neighborhood kids. Mot of all she loved playing with dolls including mine. As time passed Alice would enter Central High School and was an excellent student. She would advance on to attending college at the University of Kansas City. She took courses that helped her become a school teacher of young children in the Kansas City Missouri School District. Time just kept right on rolling and Alice would fall in love and married her one and only on May 19, 1962 to Robert L. Sanders of Detroit, Michigan. To this union her one and only child was born, Robert Sanders, Jr., who stole her heart and she simply adored him. He would never marry or have children. Now if think this little girl grew up to be sweet and gentle think again. But she did have a big giving heart. Alice became a shop-a-holic, she bought everything under the sun and the moon and often the same product 2 and 3 times and she kept it all. She was so funny. Time is still rolling on and Alice would mellow out. Her neighbors began to love her. She didn't complain as much and became the little old lady to take care of. Our family always loved her too! To know her was to love her. She let her light so shine, so to always be a comfort to those she left behind. Alice is forever my sister, forever my friend, I will miss her so much as well as her remaining family who will also miss her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy & Edna Mae Johnson-Buchanan; siblings, Aaron Eugene Richardson, and Richard Johnson, Jr., her son, Robert L. Sanders, Jr., and cousin, Melvin Henderson. Alice departed this life on December 14, 2021. Alice leaves to cherish her memories: siblings, Judith Wilson Nave, Germaine Johnson, and Darryl Johnson along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
