Algeria Lowe

Algeria Lowe was born May 29, 1944, to Harry and Susie Lowe in Wilmot, Arkansas. She was the third of eleven children. Algeria departed this life Saturday evening, December 30, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, daughter-in-law, one sibling, one grandson and one great-granddaughter. Algeria accepted Christ, and received her early Christian education at Shady Grove AME Church in Wilmot, Arkansas and continued at St. Andrew AME Church in Little Rock, Arkansas Algeria?s early education was at Wilmot Colored School in Wilmot, Arkansas, until the Lowe family relocated to Little Rock, Arkansas in 1957, where she continued her Academic Education at Horace Mann High School. Algeria married Willie Morris Piggie, and had three loving sons. Eventually, Algeria and her three sons relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, where she met James Thomas (JT) Brown and from this union a beautiful daughter, Janice T. Brown was born. Algeria was gainfully employed with Tension Envelope Company, and managed a local Thrift Store, however, she retired from the Unified Government of Wyandotte County after thirty-five years, during which time she received numerous awards and recognitions. While employed with the Unified Government of Wyandotte County, Algeria managed the Pat Hanlon Senior Citizen Center. Algeria enjoyed working with the seniors lifting them up naturally and spiritually, she ensured they were well aware of their rights as senior citizens, and gave them the resources they needed to make them complete. Every week Algeria hosted a different group allowing them to visit and entertain each other with food, games, dancing, lots of laughter, and good ole conversation. Algeria?s hobbies included a long-time membership with the Cutie Pie Social Club where they respectively gave her the nickname ?Cutie Pie Al?. More than anything, Algeria loved taking pictures both as photographer and model with her famous hand on hip pose, which has become a trait for generations present and future. Algeria loved to capture those special moments, and was never caught without her camera. With words of wisdom which you would have to know her to understand (?Things?, ?Govern yourself accordingly?, ?etc, etc, etc??, ?Find a new hobby?, ?We are doing life together?, ?Just keep living?, ?I laugh and talk, but I don?t play?) a heart of gold, an unforgettable personality, and a smile that would light up any room, Algeria touched the hearts of many family and friends because she never met a stranger. Algeria Lowe leaves to cherish and celebrate her life and legacy, three sons: Cedric A. Lowe of Kansas City Missouri, Willie Clyde Piggie of Kansas City, Kansas and Donald Ray Piggie of Salt Lake City, Utah; one daughter, Janice T. Brown and best-friend, Nicole, both of Kansas City, Missouri; six brothers: Harold Lowe of Hayward, California, Jerold Lowe, Larry Lowe, Ronald Lowe, Kenyon Lowe and Carl Lowe all of Little Rock, Arkansas; three sisters: Helen Brown of Dallas, Georgia, Edith (Earnest) Jones and Janeth (Charles) Lowe-Smith both of Little Rock, Arkansas; one lifetime sister/friend, Lorraine Burke; nine granddaughters; fifteen plus great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephew; cousins; and a host of other relatives and loving friends. Funeral Service for Algeria Lowe will be held Saturday, January 13, 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Quindaro, 3030 Farrow, Kansas City, Kansas. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Interment, Chapel Hill Cemetery.
