Ms. Alberta H. Thomas

Alberta Thomas was born to the union of Floyd C. Wiggins, Sr. and Irene Wiggins on May 21, 1939 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the second of ten children. She departed this life on December 10, 2024. Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Edward Thomas, father Floyd C. Wiggins, Sr. and mother Irene Wiggins, three brothers, Deacon Floyd C. Wiggins, Jr., Deacon Robert Wiggins, Elmer Wiggins, one grandson, Cornell Reed, Sr. Alberta confessed her faith in God at an early age and was baptized at St. Stephen Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Pastor John W. Williams, Sr., where she faithfully served in the Inspirational Choir and the Miriam Circle until her heath started to fail. Alberta received her education from R. T. Cole and Lincoln High School. After high school, she worked as a cook in many industries until she retired. Alberta enjoyed cooking and going to outings with her Circle and Choir. She was a regular at Swap and Shop and some of the sellers knew her by name. She was proud of her findings and would let her family know what she found and brought. Alberta became a second mom to her younger siblings after their mother became ill. She was truly an inspiration to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alberta married James Reed, Sr., and this union produced four children. He preceded her in death. She then married Deacon Edward Thomas in 2011. They enjoyed eating out and having family close. They were married until his demise in 2015. Alberta leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Sharon (Kevin) Barksdale of Marietta, Georgia and Jamesetta (Kevin) Davis of Kansas City, Missouri; two sons, James (Kelly) Reed, Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri, Calvin (Kimberly) Reed of Jacksonville, Florida; ten grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; three sisters, Joanna (Ronald) Windham of Israel, Thelma (Michael) Williams of Kansas City, Missouri, Octavia (Carlos) Carr of Raytown, Missouri, three brothers, Bruce (Sylvia) Wiggins of Kansas City, Kansas, Cleon (Phyllis) Wiggins of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Leon (Kendall) Wiggins of Kansas City, Missouri; six bonus daughters, Travistine Tuggle, Lisa McKenzie, Glenda Murrell, Joanetta (Tootie) Rembert, Michelle Thomas, Crystal (Bobby) Primers, Brenda Thomas; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, 11:00am at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Interment Leavenworth Nat'l Cemetery, LNVKS Wednesday, December 18th, 12:30pm. Visitation from 10:00am-11:00am at the church. Services conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
