Obituary Albert Lee Tenant (Tony) was born on August 22, 1936, in Monroe, Louisiana to the parents of Rose Lee Walker and Willie Tenant. He departed this earthly life on June 26, 2021 at his home in Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Lee (Walker) Burks, step-father Douglas Burks Sr., his wife Bessie Mae, grandsons, LeAndrew K. Jones, Marcus L. Jones and his stepson, Delray Jones. Albert (Tony) Tenant grew up in Monroe, Louisiana and graduated from Carrol High School in 1953 in Monroe, Louisiana. After high school he and his mother moved to Kansas City, Missouri. He loved many sports and was a very good basketball player. He even boasted about playing with the late, great Wilt Chamberlain. Albert (Tony) also had a passion for fishing. He enjoyed fishing at many different lakes and rivers and caught all types of fish. Albert (Tony) was employed at A.H. Market on 12th & Michigan in Kansas City Missouri prior to being employed at T.W.A. Airlines for many years until he retired in 1989. Albert (Tony) met and married Bessie Mae and was happily married for more than 20 years. Albert (Tony) Tenant leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Kimberly A. Jones Underwood (Joseph) of Toledo, Ohio; one grandson, Jeffrey Jones of Fort Wayne, Indiana, three step-daughters Florence Ward-Higgins; Robin Jones of Kansas City, KS; and Detra Jones-Gram of Toledo, Ohio. He also leaves one step brother, Douglas Burks Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri; three step-sisters, Jacklyn Moore and Roberta Burks of Kansas City, Missouri and Sonja Marie Burks of St. Louis, Missouri, his 1st cousin Harvey Lee Harmon Sr. of Monroe, Louisiana, nephew Robert Davis, 10 greatgrandchildren, and his longtime companion Beverly Doss as well as a host of other relatives and friends. A Simple Farewell will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2021, 4 :30 pm-5 :30 pm at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Private Disposition. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel.
