Abayomi Oladimeji

Obituary Abayomi Olusina (Shina) Oladimeji, 80 years old, passed away on April 11, 2019 at 1:15 AM. He was born in Lagos Nigeria on March 27, 1939 to the parents of Caroline Mosunmola and Olusola Oladimeji. He was the eldest of five children born to his parents. Shina grew up in Nigeria where he completed both his primary and secondary school educations. He received his high school diploma from the Baptist Academy in Lagos Nigeria. He pursued his college education at Tottenham Technical College, the London School of Computer Training both in London England, and the University of Connecticut in Hartford CT. Shina began his professional career in data processing and computer programming as a Programming Officer with the Ministry of Labour Provident Fund in Lagos Nigeria. While in this position, Shina traveled to the United States in 1974 and attended a program provided by the Social Security Administration which involved in-depth consideration of the applications of electronic data processing. The information and knowledge he gained from this hands-on experience allowed him to assist with the development of programs in his position with the Ministry of Labour Provident Fund in Nigeria. He returned to the United States in 1978 where he continued with his professional career in computer programming with the Hartford Group Insurance Company and Traveler’s Insurance Company both located in Hartford CT and the Interstate Bank and Transamerica Insurance Company both located in Los Angeles CA. Shina relocated to Kansas City in 1995 and continued his employment with Transamerica until he retired in 2001. Shina joined in marriage with Betty Watkins in July, 1999. He was a devoted family man who was extremely proud of his grandchildren. He was well traveled and remained current on events happening in the world around him. He was a proud Nigerian who often expressed his desire to see his country do better for its people. We continue in his honor to offer up prayers for change for the betterment of his beloved homeland. Shina was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Olutosin and Shade Oladimeji. He is survived by his wife, a son, Ladipo and his wife, Chinwe Oladimeji, his children by marriage, Jourdan and Danielle Moody, his brothers Olatoye Oladimeji and Babatunde Oladimeji, his grandchildren Miles, Zachary and Alexandria Oladimeji; Cameron McCullough and Damien, Amarrione, Isabella and Jourdan (Jr) Moody. He also leaves to mourn his passing his nieces and nephews and a host of other family members and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Lawrence A.
