Herbert Harris, was the second of five children born to Jamie Stroud and Herbert Harris on January 11, 1934.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jamie Harris, Herbert Harris, sisters, Betty Jean Givens, Francis Jo Allen, Willetta Marie Harris and brother John Westly Harris.

He leaves to cherish his memory, loving and devoted wife of 69 years Sylvia A Harris, three sons Herbert Blane Harris, Clayburn C. Harris, David W. Harris and daughter Porcia C. (Harris) Hudson, Grandad to Tamila D. Harris, Herbert Brandon Harris, Caleb M. Hudson (Breanna) (Corona, Ca.), Natasha Harris (Sitka, Alaska), Elijah A. Harris, Gabriel C. Harris (Austin, Tx) and a host of extended family and friends.

Dad attended Nearman Elementary School,  North East Junior High School, Sumner high school, and later received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. Mary's College.

He served 20 years in the United States Air Force, more than 20 years at General Electric Company and after retiring he was a substitute teacher for the Kansas City Kansas Schools District. He also was a mentor to the youth in the 59th St. community. He served as a Deacon at first Baptist Church of Quindaro for 31 years.

Growing up Dad was a father figure to so many young people who would come to him for advice and guidance, but sometimes what they received was stern, but loving chastening that was only appreciated much later in life when realized that he probably saved you from making some bad choices.
