FRANCES MAE WILSON - HOLMES

Frances Mae Wilson was born on January 15, 1935 in Kansas City, Kansas, to Charles and Beatrice Wilson. She was the fifth child of her 12 siblings. Frances is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Elizabeth, Charles, Orville, Eugene, Robert, Olivia, Rudolf and Granddaughter LaTasha Wilson.  Frances gave her life to Christ at an early age.  She was an avid student and teacher of the Bible. France was an elegant, kind, generous women with a servant’s heart. She loved the children. Frances will be remembered for her fun-loving spirit.  She loved to play all kinds of board and card games. She would pull out some incredible scrabble words on you, her latest favorite game was Phase 10.  Frances had an adventurous nature she loved to travel and take pictures! She was scrap-booking before it was a thing. “Franny” as her grandchildren would lovingly refer to her as, was a major component of education and accomplishing goals. Frances attended Dunbar Elementary, Northwest Jr. High and graduated from Sumner High School in 1954. She attended Donnelly College and Kansas University where she received her higher education degrees in Early Childhood Development.  Frances was united in marriage to Isaac Holmes, Jr. on September 27, 1964. From this union a daughter and son were born.  They were married for 54 years.  He preceded her in death. Frances was a spirited filled woman of faith and served on several boards and committees at her church, Fellowship Christian, and Mother to Mother Ministries Inc., Church Women United and Café 55.  Frances was also a member of the Pierian Club, Sumner Class of 1954, ABWA (American Businesswoman Association), a Lifetime Member of the NAACP.  She traveled with the Jolliette Travel club extensively throughout the United States. Frances was grateful and blessed to walk through countries like Germany, Switzerland and France.  Frances worked several jobs her earliest being an “Elevator Operator”. She worked for and retired from EOF Head Start.  Her dedication to her students and hard work took her from a teacher to a Director. Frances served faithfully for 30 plus years and has made some “life-long” friends.  Frances remained strong in her faith, until the Lord said to her, “Well done thou good and faithful servant. Your work is complete, come home!” Frances transitioned to her Heavenly Home on November 19, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Frances leaves to cherish her memories her loving children Gail Wilson of Portland, OR., Janice Wright of Olathe, KS, Robert Waters of Surprise, AZ, Vonda (Michael) Lopez of Phoenix, AZ, Isaac Holmes of Atlanta, GA and Robert Jackson of Kansas City, KS.  Sisters, Mary (Jerry) Avery, Kansas City, MO and Wilma Ford of Kansas City, KS, brothers Leonard Wilson of Kansas City, KS and Clyde Wilson of Georgia. “Franny’s” loving grandchildren Ronnie, Sidney, Abigail, LeNecia, Jerod, Robert Jr., David, Daylon, Daniel, Cheridan, Paige, Payton, Isaac, Robert Jr., and a host of great grands that will honor her memory by the choices they make in the future Frances also left to cherish her loving and kindness a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren, Friends, church members, and good-good girlfriends all will miss her dearly.

 A Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Fellowship Christian Church 8844 State Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas 66112.
