A client can be a walk-in or a referral.  We consult with the client as to what kind of service they want (traditional, memorial, cremation).  Traditional services includes what type of casket, services (visitation, wake and funeral), Memorial services includes no body at service, and usually an “In Memory of” picture and Cremation services.  If crematory services are selected, a death certificate must be issued before the cremation takes place.

Pre-need
Pre-need services are those services agreed to by the person/family/couple prior to death occurring.

Citizens Memorial Trust Plans
The Citizens Memorial Trust Plans provides individuals and families with a "pre-need" option. Pre-planning for funerals and cremations provide peace of mind and exact control, both financially and emotionally. This service makes it possible for decisions to be made intelligently, materially reduces funeral costs, provides protection against survivor insurance, and guarantees complete and excellent service offered by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapels.

The Citizens Memorial Trust Plans package includes all professional services: remains removal and transport; embalming; beautician/barber care; hearse and limousine transportation for the family; visitation registration book; use of chapel; and obituary notification to local newspapers (church, casket selection, lady attendant are optional services).

Dependent upon the wishes of the individual, plans vary in price and can be paid on a monthly basis which usually range from 3,5,7 even 10 years to pay your monthly payments.. The greatest advantage in selecting the "pre-need" option is that it is cost-effective because funeral and burial costs go up every year. The average Lawrence A. Jones cost for services only is $5000.00 with caskets starting at $1495.00.

At Need
At-need services are needed after death has occurred and there haven’t been any Pre-need arrangements.

If you are expecting the death of a loved one who is terminally ill, talk to your hospice nurse in advance to further plan what you need to do next.

In the event of an at home death, the hospice nurse or police need to be notified to pronounce the body dead.  (If the death of your love one is unexpected, the medical examiner has to determine a cause of death before the body will be released to the funeral home.)  Once the body is pronounced dead, the funeral home needs to be contacted to remove the body (name of the address and name of the deceased is provided to the funeral home at this point).  Once the body is present at the funeral home, permission to embalm the body must be obtained from the family to move forward (verbal over the phone, written once the family comes in.  *A pre-need service plan will act the same as a verbal/written consent to perform embalming services if one is in place).  The arranger, who is a licensed funeral director, comes and counsels the family as to what services are available (services, casket, urns, etc.)

Once your loved one passes away, these are steps your Lawrence A. Jones arranger follows to help you through the Services process:

  • Funeral director calls and offers condolences
  • An appointment is scheduled
  • Icebreaker/Meet and greet with the family
  • Information received from the family as accurate as possible for death certificate
  • Go to the selection room, browse for items that are needed based on type of service selected (favorite colors, favorite sports, etc.)
  • Talk about floral arrangements, program (if provided by the family, what is needed for the local newspaper), deadlines, clothing, 1st viewing
  • Proofing
  • 1st viewing (makeup, hair, clothing, etc.) This is the family’s last time they spend privately with their loved one.
  • Services
  • Follow up call to the family
  • Arrival of death certificate (by mail or pickup)
  • Arrangers still available for listening ear after services
