Welcome to the memorial page for

Lizzie Moffett

November 30, 2017

Lizzie Lee (Beard) Moffett was born in Crawfordsville, Arkansas, to the late Jonas Beard and Martha Lee Epps Beard (Logan).

Mrs. Lizzie Lee Moffett, affectionately called ‘Puddin’, entered eternal rest, Thursday, November 30, 2017, while in Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

She was preceded in sleep by her parents, her husband, only son, Robert Allen Moffett, Jr., younger sister, Lloydie Mae Byrd, and granddaughter, Elisha Charvei Moffett.

Mrs. Moffett accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She graduated from the now closed LeRoy McNeil High School.

Mrs. Moffett was united in Holy Matrimony April 22, 1951, to Robert Allen Moffett. To this union four children were born. In 1955, she and her husband and a small son relocated to the Kansas City, Missouri area. She held several positions in Research and Menorah hospitals as a Kitchen and Dietary Aide and in the early 1960’s continued her education receiving certifications as a Certified Nursing Assistant in night classes at the Old Westport High School. In 1964, she was employed by the former General Hospital as a Nursing Assistant and later completed in-house training as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician. So proficient in this new skill, she was assigned to the hospital lab and when the old hospital closed, she was the one who assisted with the relocation of the Blood Drawing Station to the newly constructed Truman Medical Center, where she continued to excel in her craft, becoming a trainer for many of the new phlebotomy techs, doctors and nurses.

In 1956, she united with the Starlight Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend C.L. Dixon, where she actively served as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir member, Music Director for over thirty-five years, Charter Member of the Hostess Club Church Hospitality Committee and for the last twenty years, a member of the Mothers Board. She was also one of the pioneering members of the Midwest District Association of Baptist Churches, and served as an Organizer and early Choir Director for that association.

Mrs. Lizzie Lee (Beard) Moffett leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters: Gwendolyn Moffett-Pate, Tammy Moffett-Thomas and Martha S. Moore; two grandsons, Mark C. Thomas, Sr. (Amy) and LeEdward S. Wynn; four other children most dear to her heart: Paul E. Byrd (Angela), Marvin L. Byrd (Sheila), Rosevone Byrd, II (Carolyn) and Crystal L. Washington (Otis); three great-grandchildren: Kenley Grace Thomas, Mark Christopher Thomas, Jr., and Christian Alexander Thomas; she also leaves many joyous memories and will be greatly missed by her family of cousins, nieces, nephews, her church family, neighbors and a host of other relatives and friends.
