Leroy Bryant Barnes, Jr.

January 18, 1957 ~ March 1, 2018 (age 61)

Leroy Bryant Barnes, Jr., aka, Leroy, Jr. or Roy, Jr., was born on January 18, 1957, in Houston, Texas to the late Leroy Bryant, Sr. and Shirley J. Barnes. He was the second oldest of seven children.

Leroy departed this life on March 1, 2018, to be with the Lord.

Leroy was united in Holy Matrimony to Linda Sue Smith on July 26, 1996. They were blessed with four children: Joseph Edward Smith, Leroy Bryant Barnes, III, Jacynda Sue’zan Barnes and Kayla Charmese Ann Barnes.

Leroy confessed, believed in his heart, and accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and was baptized. He was a member of Grace Temple, now, God’s House of Praise, where he was a member of the Choir, as he loved to sing. He was a loving and caring individual; moreover, he loved his family and doing for others. He was loved by many people and touched many lives with his outgoing personality. Through the challenges, hardships, and trying times he faced during his life, he managed to fulfill his life by helping others; and that’s when he was the happiest.

Leroy served two branches of the Military, the Army and the Navy. He also worked on the Sprint Campus for almost twelve years. As an employee on the Sprint Campus, he was a Supervisor as well as a Certified CPR Trainer. Leroy was trained in all department areas of the Sprint Campus. Furthermore, he not only loved working at his job, but he loved cooking and taking meals to his co-workers.

Leroy Bryant Barnes, Jr. leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Linda Sue Barnes; his mother, Shirley J. Barnes; four children: Joseph Edward Smith, Leroy Bryant Barnes, III, Jacynda Sue’zan Barnes and Kayla Charmese Ann Barnes; one granddaughter, Hailea Symone Mitchell; three sisters: Lerona R. Barnes, Yvette J. Barnes, and Johnee’ Chianti Mizee Barnes; three brothers: Dewain E. Barnes, Adrian D. Barnes, Sr. and Marcus K. Barnes; six sisters-in-law: Tonette Barnes, Dashine Barnes, Aisha Barnes, Debra Longe, Cheryl Smith, and Sherry Smith Poe; one brother-in-law, Ronald Smith; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Funeral Service for Leroy Bryant Barnes, Jr. will be held Saturday, March 10, 1:00 p.m. at God's House of Praise, 5806 E. 137th Street, Grandview, Missouri.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. a the Church.

Interment, Monday, March 12, 9:00 a.m. Leavenworth National Cemetery.
