Brenda I. McAlister was born on August 5, 1953, in Kansas City, Kansas to the late John C. McAlister and Delories McAlister.
Brenda received her wings to join her Heavenly Father on March 31, 2018, with her daughters surrounding her.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Alvin B. McAlister, Ray C. McAlister, and Johnny McAlister, and two special friends, George Griffin and Judy Cheadle.
Brenda recently rededicated her life back to Christ with Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Nathan Jones.
Brenda attended Sumner High School in Kansas City, Kansas. She loved and played basketball. She graduated as Class President in 1972. Brenda’s first job was at Mobil Oil, but later went to work for the United States Postal Service for thirty-five years and retired August 5, 2011.
In life Brenda enjoyed going to Las Vegas with George, looking at all the latest magazines, shopping, cooking, and spending time with (Fanny), Jazelle Miller, family and friends.
Brenda Irlene McAlister leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Tamara McAlister and Tenesha Bennett both of Kansas City, Kansas; brother, Calvin McAlister; a sister, Cynthia Butler-McAlister; seven grandchildren: Williams Daniels, Dainesha Nunally, Jealani Daniels, I’Jhanai Collins, Jhanai Miller, Alyiah Wright and Sydney Martin; four great-grandchildren: Jaden Daniels, Maria Daniels, Jazelle Miller (Fanny), and Dominique Allen; five aunts: Madgie Cotton of Kansas City, Missouri, Pearl James, Gertrude Sublett, Ida Mondine and Gwendolyn James all of Kansas City, Kansas; one uncle, Barney James; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Service for Brenda Irlene McAlister will be held Saturday, April 7, 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 2404 N. Sherman, Kansas City, Kansas.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Church.
Interment, Highland Park Cemetery.
