Bessie Louis Ferguson, 84, was born on May 12, 1933, to Joann Edward in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
She departed this life on December 12, 2017
She was preceded in death by her mother, Joann, her husband, Norman Ferguson, her mother-in-law, Carnie McDaniel, a daughter, Carrie Ferguson, a son, Geno Ferguson, and two grandsons, Brian Ferguson and Geno Ferguson, Jr.
Bessie later moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she met and later married Norman Ferguson. To this union ten children were born.
Bessie worked at Kansas University Medical Center as a Supervisor in Dietary for thirty years until she retired. She later volunteered at local elementary Schools as a “Grandmother” and at the Juvenile Detention Center for several years.
Bessie accepted Christ at an early age where she was a member of Strangers Rest Baptist church in Kansas City, Kansas under the leadership of Pastor C.A. Pough. She later joined Shalom Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Henry Pace. She joined Grace Fellowship Baptist Church before her health failed and remained a member until her death.
Bessie Louis Ferguson leaves to cherish her memories, five daughters: Colleen, Denise, Pamela, Thersa and Paula all of Kansas City, Missouri; four sons: Norman, Jr. (Marilyn), Anthony, Darren and Byrd; sixteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral Service for Bessie Louise Ferguson will be held Saturday, December 16, 11:00 a.m. at Grace Fellowship Baptist Church, 8614 Raytown Road, Raytown, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 at the church.
Interment, Tuesday, December 19, Leavenworth National Cemetery.
